Studio NW2 at Competitions in March
March Madness! What a month. Studio NW2 has been making our presence felt at competitions over the past 3 weekends, and we’re not done yet!
First up, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam London. Head Coach Enrique managed to bag himself a bronze medal in the Black Belt Master 3 under-62kg division with a win and a loss. Assistant coach Fiona competed in the Blue Belt Adult under-49kg division, and with one no-show and two submissions smashed her way to the top of the podium.
The following weekend, 8 of our students made our way to Kleos Grappling at High Wycombe. For most of them, it was their very first competition. Everyone fought their hearts out, had good and bad matches, and we’re very proud of them. Will Stone had a great run on Saturday, winning all his matches in the White Belt Ultra-Heavyweight division and the absolute. He brought home two gold medals with a bonus signature hammer of the Kleos Grappling series. Chris Grimwood submitted his way to the finals of the Blue Belt Heavyweight division and won a silver medal.
Finally, coach Keeno competed yesterday at the All Stars BJJ Europeans yesterday and won the Brown Belt Master 1 Featherweight division. Not content with a single medal, he went on to fight in the under-76kg lightweight absolute division and added a silver medal to his collection.
And the grind continues. This weekend, we’ll be heading out to the Shoyoroll Clash competition at Harrow. Let’s do this, team!
