What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that has its roots in Judo. It developed to focus primarily on grappling on the ground, but has retained stand up elements such as Judo throws as well as included wrestling techniques to bring the fight to the ground. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides students with the tools and knowledge to control and submit opponents. While still relatively new as a sport, BJJ has been gaining ground rapidly throughout the world as people increasingly recognise its value as part of a cohesive fighting system as well as a method of self-defence.
As a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you will find the journey frustrating at times, but most rewarding at others. You will be challenged constantly in your physical fitness, in your technical skills, and most importantly in your mental fortitude. For those who enjoy the thrill of testing your skills against others, we also provide excellent training support for competitors.
Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is headed by black belt Enrique Villasenor. We offer beginners and mixed level classes to accommodate different skill levels. Prior to opening Studio NW2, Enrique taught at London Fight Factory. He is a highly experienced instructor and active competitor.
