No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as the name implies, is simply Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that is not practised in the Gi. This opens up an entirely different side to the game as the type of grips that you make will be different, there is a lot less friction involved, and different rulesets which allow different submissions etc. The Gi and No-Gi aspects of BJJ are highly complementary, and we would absolutely recommend attending classes in both if you can afford the time.

We do focus primarily on training in the Gi here at Studio NW2. If you are looking for a place to train exclusively No-Gi grappling, this is unfortunately not the place for you.

There are 3 No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes on the schedule every week. Two Inter-Adv sessions on Wednesdays from 7.30-8.30pm and Fridays from 7-8pm, and one Beginners session on Saturday mornings from 10-11am. The Beginners No-Gi session forms part of our Beginners programme, so we do not allow Beginners to join ONLY the No-Gi session.

Attire

Students are required to be dressed appropriately for No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. This means:
– Rashguard (No T-shirts allowed!)
– Grappling shorts without zippers or pockets
– Spats or compression shorts can be worn UNDER a pair of grappling shorts

T-shirts and gi pants are not considered appropriate No-Gi attire and you will not be allowed to join the class if you turn up without the correct gear.
